Oh wow! What an amazing butterfly. It almost looks as though it has been made up by a child! It must have been a real thrill coming across that. I would love to go to Thailand one day to see some of the butterflies you have posted here.

Nick, yeah, they are amazing. I got of couple of shots of Painted Jezebel (Delias hyparete indica) in 2010 or 2011, and then when I saw this guy, I was so excited to get another chance. Unfortunately I got exactly one shot off before he flew. When I got home and looked, turned out he was a different subspecies. I love comparing the differences. I certainly hope you do get to Thailand sometime. It is the butterfly enthusiasts paradise.

This is a gorgeous shot. An amazingly colored butterfly but also the composition of the shot is just right.
As per your comment to Nick about Thailand, I hope that some day you can go to Costa Rica. From what I’ve read they have a wide variety of beautiful, unusual butterflies in the rain forest.-
I would love to go to Costa Rica!!! You’re right. It would be a fantastic place to get to see some awesome species. I love the colors in this little guy. They are so sharp and bright and bold.
